Collaborative Art

The group Raíz Cuadrada (Root Square)is conformed by the artists-investigators, Trixi Allina and Alejandro Jaramillo, who have a background infields of education and art.-documentation, performance/theatre, photography, plastic arts and anthropology-. On many occasions they work with artists from other fields, such as audio-visual and sound creation or writing. This interdisciplinary richness allows the group to dialogue, activate practices and achieve initiatives into the image creation and production of work based on the research in the framework of collaborative art and intangible cultural heritage with communities, collectivities and institutions related to these fields.

Collaborative Art is the methodology we use to guide these investigative practices. This methodology has contributed to the development of a working model that correlates the experiences and dialogues between communities and with the researchers; when exhibiting and sharing the results, we discuss or exchange experiences and talk about the moments, situations, problems and conceptual tensions that contribute to the relational work, thus enriching the production of knowledge.
